FAQ

Do I need to tell you in advance what project I want to work on?

Yes, you will choose your project/design when you register online. If you don’t make a reservation and you walk in during open studio times (check our hours first) you will choose your project at our studio. However, please note that not all projects can be completed during open studio time, nor can we guarantee that a project you saw on our website would be in stock when you walk in. If there is a particular project you know you want to create, we recommend using our Reserve Seats & Select Your Project option. This way the project you choose would be reserved for your visit. You’ll also SAVE 10% on your visit when you enter the promo code from our monthly newsletter. Not a current CraftStar subscriber? No problem, sign up now, it’s fast and free!

Do I need to tell you in advance what color wood stain, paint, yarn, string, fabric, etc. I want to use for my project?

No, you do not need to tell us these items in advance, you can pick those out once you are at our studio and are able to see all the available options. One exception is if you are attending an event at a location outside our studio. For example, a craft night at a restaurant. In that case you will choose your colors, fabrics, etc. when you register for the event online.

What is the difference between “Reserve a Seat & Select Your Project” and Booking a Class?

When you “Reserve Seats & Select Your Project” you can choose ANY project to work on. When you Book a Class your project choice is defined by the class. For instance, if you reserve a Wood Sign Class, everyone in the class will be making a wood sign. Not everyone would be making the same wood sign, but wood signs would be the only project type people would be doing at that class. If you were coming with a group of friends and one person wanted to make bath bombs, the second wanted to make a wood sign and the third wanted string art, then you would want to use the “Reserve Seats & Select Your Project” option. When you “Reserve Seats & Select Your Project” you’ll use one of our easy-to-understand tutorials to create your project with staff members there to assist you whenever you need it.  When you Book a Class, it will be taught by an instructor.

I’m planning a party at your studio, can I decorate the space?

Yes, if you have reserved one of our private party options you can decorate the space. If you are simply reserving seats, you can decorate your select table(s).

If I am coming with a friend, do we both have to choose the same project to work on?

No, you can each choose whatever project you would like to work on. Whether you are stopping in during open studio hours, or you “reserve a seat & select your project” you can each choose a different project to work on.

How long does it take to complete a project?

It depends on the project. They can be anywhere from 1-3 hours. When you click on a project picture, in the description area you will see a “time to complete” section that will give you the approximate amount of time it will take to complete the project.

If I find a project on the internet that I want to do and you don’t offer it in your studio, can you offer it as an option?

Yes, if you see a project that you would like create, send a picture to us. Our craft team will source the materials required to complete the project and put together a quote for you.

Are there any age restrictions?

Sometimes. We offer projects for both children and adults. Some projects require the use of a brad nail gun and we require guests to be 16 years of age or older to use this tool. Some projects also require the use of a hot glue gun and we require guests to be 13 years of age or older to use this tool. With the exception of our arts and crafts camp, we do not require children to be a certain age to come to our studio. Our projects for children are generally designed for those aged 5 and up. If you’re interested in a party for children younger than 5, please contact us and we can help you plan your event. Our arts and crafts camp does require children to be at least 5 years of age to attend.
